June Event Flyer During recent trip to Japan, several US aikido instructors got to meet Masahiko Noriki sensei (7th dan). He is currently the Dojocho heading Yoshinkan Aikido Honbu. Noriki sensei will be visiting our friendship dojo in Sacramento (Chief Instructor is Steven Miranda) the first weekend of June. If anyone interested please let John or Kevin sensei know. Our 10-year Mugenjuku Aikido Celebration brought so many of us together in Kyoto and many more witnessed the journey on social media. Aikido Del Mar was here too with Kevin sensei, Tomoya san, and Larry san. People from all over the world trained, played, and laughed together for the sharing of the Art of Peace. REMINDER: Kenshu class for advanced students of brown belt candidates, black belt candidates, and current black belts starts today. There are six sessions in this series, and the dates are: Jan 30, Feb 13, Feb 20, Feb 27, Mar 12, Mar 19 Due to Kenshu classes, our normal adult class will end at 1:30pm instead of 2:00pm. This celebration called Kagami Biraki (鏡開き) is a Japanese traditional celebration which translates to "Opening the Mirror". It calls for each of us to take a closer look at ourselves, seek ways to gave up our bad habits, and commit to a deeper level of self-improvement. Registration is now open for the November Utada Kancho Seminar - come and join the FUN! This 3-day seminar includes beach bokken training, explanation of all controls, focused weapons training, and the philosophical and mystical aspects of aikido. Don't forget to bring a notebook! Some of you have attended last year's session with an introduction to attack and counter-attacks using the bokken, jo, and tanto.
