Good day everyone! Lots are happening in Aikido Del Mar. First of all, we want to give our appreciation to each and everyone of you for making Aikido Del Mar a part of your life. We truly appreciate all the support from the parents and students for making our dojo such a welcoming place to be. We have just completed week two of bokken training with the Aiki-Kids Elite Team with just a few selected individuals. To be a part of the Elite Team, each student must demonstrate a sincere desire to learn, a willingness to stay focused, and the [...]
Good day everyone! Thank you all for making another memorable Halloween class at Aikido Del Mar to finish a great training month in October. We had a wonderful turn out this year - parents and kids alike worked on their stomach muscles with laughter! In the kids class, both Angry Bird and Miss Kitty won the Aikido Halloween Costume Contest. In the youth class, Intoxa-COW was the winner who not only showcased his costume but also his astonishing aikido moves. Great job everyone! We appreciate all the fun, games, and photos you've shared with us. As for the onset of November, [...]
Good day everyone! As the month of May comes to a close, we are excited to announce the youth class Spirit Award goes to one of our new students Arian! In the past few months, Arian dedicated himself to his training by always giving 100%. It doesn't matter if he's leading warm ups or learning a new technique, Arian is able to not give himself excuses, and always striving to do his best in each moment. Even during challenging times, Arian is still able to take some time out, calm himself, and jump back into the training with a refreshed outlook. We all benefit [...]
We are happy to report our week-long testing in April went smoothly in all three classes. All students invited to test passed onto the next level. Congratulations everyone for your dedicated training. As April came to a close, we were glad to recognize another student from the youth class to receive the Spirit Award in the month of April. Heather Nguyen started aikido a little more than 6 months ago and each class she brings a spirit of joy to our training. Heather is able to flow with ease and grace in her movement due to her wonderful attitude. She doesn't [...]
Great day everyone! Most students had the opportunity to test today in all three classes. We are happy to see the continuing progress within everyone. And we are thrilled to see the supportive environment created by all the loving families. There is a strong sense of community - a wonderful spirit of aikido in our dojo and we are blessed to be training with you all.
We had a very successful Kagami Biraki to kick off 2013. Many parents and students came to help set up prior to the demonstration. Congratulations to all the students who demonstrated an aspect of aikido they were working on. The potluck afterwards was extra yummy this year thanks to all the contributions from the three classes. We have captured a few moments on video from that weekend and would like to share with you. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XuL737D5Hc] As January comes to a close, we would also like the recognize a student who consistently shows up to class with focus and tireless dedication. [...]
Congratulations aiki-kids, aiki-youth, and the adults for a successful test today. Everyone dedicated a lot of time, energy, and sweat on the mats to prepare for today's test. The hard work really paid off! We also like to acknowledge the parents for helping their children preparing for the test. It is wonderful to hear how the children feel supported at home as they bring a strength of love and confidence into the dojo. We feel truly blessed! Here is the link to the pictures from today, feel free to download the ones you like.
First of all, we want to congratulate two very special students for earning the Most Valuable Student and the Most Improved Student awards in the month of November. Matthew consistently works hard with diligent focus since he joined aikido about a year and a half ago. Things don't always come easily, yet upon facing challenges, Matthew exhibits an attitude of tenacity that is rare and inspiring. Matthew's focus on precision of movements allows him to build a strong foundation for his aikido training. We are happy to see his steady development and dedication to never-ending improvement. Emma began our program a while back in the [...]
