Renewals for 2014

Thanks to everyone we had a great turnout for Kagami Biraki this year. Our friends from Encinitas Aikido also came to this special event to help us renewal our dedication in all of our trainings. We are happy to see good focused demonstrations and many smiling faces celebrating with us for another year with Aikido of Del Mar. As a renewal for our aikido training, the youth class already started setting tangible targets to challenge themselves to do their very best. The kids also incorporated many changes so they too can challenge themselves to be more focused, thoughtful, and respectful. [...]

2014 Kagami Biraki Celebration

明けましておめでとうございます!  Happy New Year! It is that time again where Aikido of Del Mar is putting on our biggest event of the year. We are excited to officially kick start our training this year by a tradition of reflecting on the past and rededicating to the new — come and join us to celebrate Kagami Biraki (鏡開き) on Saturday, Jan 18th from 11am-1pm. This celebration was an old samurai tradition dating back to the 15th century. Welcome to 2014! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and ready to start the new year fresh. Our training will start this coming weekend on Saturday, January 4th, resuming our regular class schedules. We are also excited to announce that after the adult class on Saturdays around 2:15pm, we will have "Tea with Sensei". This time is a special gathering to sit down with Sensei to learn about the Japanese culture as well as listening to the stories and philosophies behind aikido.
