To Our Amazing Aikido Del Mar Community,

We wanted to give you an update on the precautionary measures we have put in place and added as we continue to do what we can to keep our aiki-family safe and healthy.

Measures Implemented So Far
Feb 27, 2020 – “Flu Season Reminder” sent to all students, weekly disinfect mats started, disinfect class props started, before and after class hand-washing started
March 4, 2020 – “Hand Washing Reminder” sent to Kids/Youth Class and all students are following new 20 second washing procedures before and after class
March 7, 2020 – Weapons training added for Kids/Youth to decrease close contact

March 7-12, 2020 Measures
– Students, teachers, and assistant teachers who are not feeling well are encouraged to stay home;
– Mats and common surfaces treated with Lysol spray before class and with 10% bleach wipe and dry on the weekend;
– We urge all students to bring your own bokken and jo to class and take them home with you after class to avoid cross-contamination;
– We continue to provide tissues and hand-sanitizer near the mats;
– We ask all students to please wear shoes on the carpet and into the restrooms;
– Keep on washing hands for at least 20sec throughout the day;
– We will reduce hands-on adjustment

Upcoming Measures
March 14, 2020 – NO CLASS BGC SHUTDOWN started on March 13 3pm!
March 14-20, 2020 – ADM Spring Break for Aikido Kids/Youth/Adult
March 18-22, 2020 – Payet Sensei SoCAL Seminar has been CANCELED

Starting Tuesday March 21, we will start our online training via YouTube to livestream during normal class time. Please subscribe to our channel. Students can follow along and chat interact using smartphone, computer, or iPad like devices. We have finished our first streaming with some technical difficulties. But overall, 22 families joined with so far 55 views. Video file is saved and can be viewed later if you miss a session. Adult class settled on using ZOOM and if you are interested in joining, please email AikidoDelMar@gmail.com to be added on the meeting list.
